What is a Pre-ACK loan, exactly?
A refund-related loan decision made before the IRS formally acknowledges your tax return. It does not mean the IRS accepted your return or approved a refund. Your lender determines whether the loan can be offered and funded.
What is the difference between Pre-ACK and Post-ACK?
Pre-ACK is considered before IRS acknowledgment, generally earlier in the season at qualified participating offices. Post-ACK is considered after an electronically filed return is accepted for processing. Both require a separate lender decision.
Does everyone qualify for the maximum $7,000?
No. The $7,000 figure is the published maximum of the referenced lender program, not an entitlement. You could qualify for a smaller amount or be declined. Availability also depends on the office and program.
How much does a refund advance cost?
The referenced 2027 Fast Cash Advance loan advertises 35.99% APR. For example, the lender states that a $2,000 loan over 30 days totals $2,059.16. Tax preparation, optional refund transfer and other charges may be additional and must be disclosed before you sign.
How quickly will I get the money?
The lender—not the IRS or our website—sets approval and disbursement timing. A decision or deposit can be delayed by missing documents, identity checks, banking processing or other factors. No same-day funding is promised.
Do I need good credit or a certain refund amount?
Requirements are set by the lender and may involve your application, identity, anticipated refund and eligibility review. We cannot promise approval based on credit score or estimated refund. Ask about current lender criteria.
What happens if the IRS reduces or delays my refund?
A loan is separate from the IRS refund. Interest and principal are generally taken from the refund when funded; if it is delayed or smaller than expected, review the repayment terms in the signed agreement and contact the lender for guidance. A loan does not guarantee an IRS refund.
Is a refund advance the same as a Refund Transfer?
No. A refund advance is borrowed money. A Refund Transfer is an optional payment arrangement allowing authorized preparation and other fees to be deducted from an IRS refund after it arrives. A Refund Transfer by itself is not a loan.
Do I have to request an advance to file my taxes?
No. You can have your return prepared and electronically filed without taking out a refund advance. Ask about standard refund delivery and payment options.
Can I apply before all my W-2s or tax records arrive?
You must provide accurate and complete required information for your preparer and lender. Do not estimate or invent W-2 amounts to seek a loan. Your preparer can explain what documentation is required and when an application is appropriate.
Is this the same as tracking my IRS refund?
No. A preparer case status or advance decision is not the IRS refund status. After filing, use the official IRS Where's My Refund? tool to track the federal refund itself.
Can I apply today for the 2027 program?
The lender's published Pre-ACK start is January 2, 2027, and Post-ACK begins with the IRS filing season. Availability through Virtual Money Tax Services must first be confirmed; until then, you can start a tax preparation inquiry and ask to be informed of your options.
